Wedding fever
I walked through the city-centre today so I actually witnessed some of this fever for myself.
Every one in Germany seems to be getting married today, including the children of two of my friends.
At the City Hall couples were queuing up to get in the back door. They filed out, almost like a long crocodile of school children, they lined up to get photographs taken on the steps around the “Beautiful Well”, after having turned the lucky ring that is worked into the wrought-iron fencing.
In England people ring 999 for the emergency services. In Germany they want it on their marriage certificates!
